From the Editor

Dear Visitor,

What you see before you is the culmination of thousands of hours of creative work from the contributors, plus the sweat, tears and caffeine-fueled days of eight dedicated editors. When the 2011 editorial board put out the call for submissions, we were not sure what to expect. We knew we had our work cut out for us when we received over two hundred submissions in a half dozen genres. While we appreciated every entry, we knew we could select only a fraction of what was offered. We are especially pleased to be featuring work from across the various academic programs and disciplines, as well as from the artistic community beyond our campus borders.

This year, not only are we offering a printed gem for your enjoyment, we are quite excited about the launch of the Clamor website. The addition of the Clamor website allows us to publish works in audio, video, and multi-media for the first time — complementing the changing nature of the artistic output on our campus.

None of this would be possible without the support of the Services and Activities Fee Committee, the Office of Student Life, the Digital Media Lab, the Writing Center, and our courageous and inspired academic advisor, Ted Hiebert, all of whom we owe our gratitude. Thank you. On a personal note, I would like to thank my fellow editors for sharing their creative talents and for only threatening me with running away to Disneyland when things became frenzied as our deadlines approached.

On behalf of the entire editorial board, we give our heartfelt thanks to everyone who shared their talent, to the muses, and to you, our audience.

Katherine M. Seidemann, Managing Editor, 2011
