Stronger Woman

by Jasleena Grewal

You’re in love with my disease.
Thinning hair falling over
protruding ribs and jutting hips
when you’re over me

I’m frail and delicate
like your favorite celebrity.
Size Zero doesn’t talk too loud
but I don’t want to be like her.

Crohn’s made me that way
and you love me that way

Waiting for remission
to gain back thirty pounds of
happiness, hair, hips.
And scream, with my loud lips,
that I am a stronger woman.

If then you do not want me,
I will find a stronger man.
